Our Story

Blackburd is a small women's owned brand launched in 2018 in London, England. The brand is dedicated to reimagining the ways in which we think of luxury, by merging the concepts of both exclusivity and inclusivity, we've developed Blackburd to be the ultimate brand in the middle, serving customers who sought after elegant contemporary styles made from carefully sourced materials with manufacturers and ateliers in, England and Ghana. Today, We manufacture limited quantities, engage in circular production methods and only work with recycled and sustainable fabrics that are 100% animal cruelty free. Blackburd also offers customers the flexibility of requesting tailored alterations on selected items, as we believe in giving our customers the uttermost exquisite experience while promoting the normalisation ethical consumerism.

2023

From 2021 we expanded our lines including sportswear, unisex styles, and a shift in the diversity of fabrics, incorporating brighter and louder designs. In 2022 we shot two campaigns in Zurich, Switzerland and  In 2023 we produced our first Atelier-made collection designed in London and produced in Accra, Ghana. This shift to half factory - half handmade clothing, allowed us to have closer control of our production and expanded our creative imagination especially for exclusive pieces.

2020

In 2020 we evolved into creating sophisticated elegent clothes with  sustainability as central to the brand, Instead of focusing on just vegan materials, we began producing fully ethical collections made from high quality natural and recycled fabrics sourced in England.  

2018

The idea of Blackburd began in late 2017 with the intention of creating premium vegan outwear to confront the problem of animal cruelty in the luxury fashion world, mainly focusing on high quality Faux leather, Sued, Fur and other materials.

OurOur brand was created with the world in mind, environmentally and also socially. We shoot campaigns in different countries, experimenting with different themes for every collection, incorporating stories and ideas. The incorporation of variety is what keeps Blackburd floating between the quiet middle space of luxury, ethics and experimental innovation.

We believe the beauty of artistic storytelling and the luxury of comfort and options. when merged together with the utilisation of sustainable resources and practices to invert the beauty from outside to also the inside, you get Blackburd.

When it comes to style, We don't restrict ourselves to any particular trend or mode of self expression, instead we enjoy experimenting with different themes and stories in our campaigns to provide varying options for your wardrobe with adventurous yet adaptable outfits through different seasons.
